Skillmation supports a variety of programs for our local youth.
  • 9th Grade Mentoring at PTHS: we meet with students once a month to act as a sounding board for their Life Skills class and in preparation for the Product Innovation Market Day event in the spring
  • Subject Coaching: because nobody wants a tutor, and everyone can benefit from a coach - our community member volunteers help local students 'Catch up & Keep Up" with one on one free academic assistance.
  • Job and Trades Fair: Jefferson County is home to an amazing array of small businesses, service opportunities, and generous entrepreneurs.  Every spring the Job and Trades fair brings together all of west Jefferson County's students for a showcase of everything from summer jobs, to local paid internships, to career path opportunities.
  • Post High School Planning: We support our students best when we help ensure their success.  Post High School Planing is an 8 session program offered for free at PTHS that helps Juniors plan their exit from High School and springboard into the next phase of their life - be it starting a career or continuing their education.
  • HOOT (Handy Online Organization Tool):  In conjunction with OWL360, Skillmation has produced an online version of their popular resource guide.  With over 100 organizations listed who have specific services to aid and uplift our local youth.

Connected Students Initiative

Recent events have made even more obvious the need to have every student connected to the network for learning, researching, and participating.  Our goal is to see that every student in our county has access to high speed educational Internet services.
