Skillmation |
The Benji Project |
SKILLMATION was our first StrongerTowns program. The goal of this activity is to form mentorship connections that bridge the economic, educational, and age barriers that divide rural communities. Our unique website technology and hand built relationships with local schools, organizations allow for sharing skills, experiences, and viewpoints across our community.
The Production AllianceTHE PRODUCTION ALLIANCE builds community through celebration. TPA leads non-profit organizations, local businesses, and government agencies to collaboratively plan annual events that uphold cultural traditions and strengthen resiliency through inclusive, annual gatherings that celebrate community and improve quality of life in Jefferson County.

These seminars have been attended by dozens of local youth and their families through a mix of private meetings and school events.
Community BuildCOMMUNITY BUILD is a community-started and community-run organization that mobilizes volunteer resources to build projects that will benefit those who are underserved in the community.
Inspired by compassion for our unsheltered neighbors, we are engaging our community in building secure housing while strengthening community for us all. Return to Earth
Port Townsend will soon be home to porch-side compost pickup. Return to Earth is a new program that will handle pickup, decomp, and sales of compost in Jefferson County. Stay tuned for more details on how to sign up and how to purchase. What a great way to reuse our own locally produced organic waste!
Salish Snow Sports
Years ago, Port Townsend had a Ski Bus that took kids to lessons and recreation at our ski slopes. Jaimie Jaynes was one of the kids on that bus and now she is actively revitalizing this service with Salish Snow Sports. Get all the details by visiting their site here:

We Want Your Great Idea to be our Next Program
Founded in 2016, StrongerTowns has 5 active programs underway and is evaluating a handful more. For a program to be a good fit with StrongerTowns, it must be innovative in its approach to solving a problem of high social impact. The idea can be brand new, fresh, and unproven - but the application of the idea must be able to be replicated on a national scale in rural communities once it has been successfully tested locally.
